KIPPAGE: Fun Facts and Useless Information 4: Niburu is Coming!

PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA :

According to some gourmets, pizza is actually considered a peasant food.

One pizza made with preserved and flavored sausages, has enough nitrates in it, if mixed with charcoal and sulfur, could be ignited, or possibly explode.

Pizzas in Roman times, contained meats such as, Lion, Boar, Elephant, Tiger, and many other wild varieties of animal flesh. This was due to the slaughter of them during the games in the Coliseum and other sport venues in Rome. After the animals were killed in whatever battle they fought against each other, or humans, their meat would be rendered and sold in markets.

GERMANY'S U-BOATS :

In comparison, the u-boats of world war two, were just as technologically advanced as our space shuttle.

To supplement the diet on a u-boat, in calm waters, the cook would toss concussion grenades over the side of the boat to kill fish in the proximity. The concussion would kill the fish, which would then float to the top and be collected by the cook. Fish & Sauerkraut anyone?

Towards the end of the war, Germany had developed a u-boat that ran on hydrogen peroxide. The peroxide engine not only powered the boat, but, produced oxygen when the peroxide reacted with seawater, and the boat could stay under indefinitely. It was developed too late in the war to make a difference.

BACKWOODSMAN SHIP :

Did you know that root beer is made from the licorice root? The licorice root grows on mossy trees, and the root is boiled down to get the flavor out of the root into a light syrup, which is clear, then caramel is added for color, and you can either add seltzer water to it, or, put an unboiled root in the bottle(s) you seal it in and it will carbonize naturally. So, next time you have a root beer, you are actually having 'Licorice pop'.

Though it is probably not legal to do so now, when I was young, going fishing, you could use just about anything for bait on your hook. After I caught my first fish, I would make sure they were dead, and then use one of their eyes, you catch fish like crazy doing this, and the eye is so tough, it stays on the hook for quite awhile, so you don't have to re-bait all the time.

If you are out in the woods, and caught in a snowstorm, or nasty cold weather, and cannot find anything dry to start a fire with, look under coniferous trees, there is always a pile of bone dry needles and twigs, even in wintertime, and it's possible that some creature has a nest near the tree full of dry grasses and burnables. Be sure to use a stick to check out the nest so you don't get bitten. Always carry a fire starter with you, like a Bic lighter or equivalent while out in the outback.

ODDS BODKINS :

The condom named Rameses, is named after the Pharaoh Rameses II who allegedly had over 200 children.

The glue on Israeli stamps is reported to be Kosher.

An Ostrich's eye is bigger than its brain.

Mel Blanc, the voice of Bugs Bunny, and other Saturday morning cartoon characters, was reportedly allergic to carrots.

A housefly's hum is in the key of F, which is the one key that attracts humans' attention the most studies show. Want to bug somebody, hum in the key of F.

Out of two billion people, statistics show that only one person will live to be over 110 years old.

Gilligan, of Gilligan's Island, first name was 'William'.

The longest word you can type with your left hand is 'Stewardesses'.

When you drink a glass of water, you are consuming hydrogen atoms that are 14 billion years old, they were created when the universe formed.

An elephant's trunk contains more than 50,000 muscles.

Two thirds of the world's geysers are reportedly in Yellowstone Park, I think this is debatable.

STAR TREK :

It is rumored that Captain Kirk was a ladies' man, and it is rumored that, were he to have gotten laid as many times as was averred to in the show, he would have over 20 children, and no telling how many grandchildren.

Star Trek was originally created to be a "Wagon Train to the Stars". I remember the night that 'The Cage' pre-empted their favorite weekly western TV show at our house. I thought my dad and grandfather were going to throw the television out through the living room window they were so upset. But, I managed to convince them not to, and they settled down, and watched The Cage, and actually enjoyed it.

In the first year of Star Trek, the ships phasers were red. The last two years of the show, the ships phasers were blue. Many explanations are given for this, all of them no doubt valid.

Doctor McCoy never said one swear word in the TOS series, the term "Dammit Jim", is something that fans made up over the years, and the good doctor didn't start actually using swear words until the movies.

In the new movie, it shows the Enterprise being constructed on earth, instead of in space. The only way this could happen, and get the ship up into space, would be if anti-gravity, or some new power source that compensated for gravitational pull were to have been in use. The ship in a gravitational environment would not be structurally sound, and break apart.

Vasquez rocks state park was used in many of the Star Trek episodes for its 'Otherworldy' appearance.

MANIC HABITS :

American consume 4,900 cups of coffee per second, 24 hours a day.

Americans reportedly watch an average of 20 hours of TV a week. That's half a week's work hours, if times were still good that is.

One Thousand pounds of nuts of different varieties are consumed every second by Americans.

Even though there are many warnings about the dangers of smoking, Americans smoke enough tobacco every day, that if they were all put together while smoking, they could be used by the Military as a biological weapon.

Ice cream was invented in China around 2000 BC, the flavor was rumored to be a bland cheese like flavor. Americans reportedly consume over 500 gallons per minute of all kinds of ice cream. Rumor has it that the most popular flavor of ice cream of all time is ... Letter Please .. ***Riiiiippp*** "VANILLA".

1.5 Billion swear words are uttered every day in America. Swearing is actually an addicting habit, and in some cases, people pay big money to go to a therapist to get them off of their colorful metaphoric drug.

FOOD FACTS :

Eggplant does not have any eggs in it, No ham in hamburger either, nor any apple in pineapple.

English muffins were not invented in England, nor were French fries in France.

Hot dogs are made from the leftovers of the renderings of cattle, fruit juices have all kinds of worms ground up in them, as do a lot of cereals. The one thing that is not pointed out here, is that all of these foods that contain insects and other un-namables all have a high protein content. Insects have a higher protein rating than beef, or pork, or chicken, or even soy beans.

Drinking a small amount of vinegar mixed with water every day, will help keep your arteries clear, and lower your blood pressure. Wine has the same effect. Red wine is especially good if you think you've eaten some tainted food, it has enzymes in it that counteract almost all bacteria that cause stomach upset to botulism.

Just about all of us enjoy a good steak and several glasses of beer at a meal, red meat is one of the quickest ways to get protein into your body, but also has the effect of adding to your bad cholesterol. One way to counteract this is to drink a glass of grapefruit juice after a steak dinner, before your system has time to digest the red meat, the grapefruit juice is very acidic and will aid in the digestion and dispersing of the bad cholesterol into your poop and pee, instead of your arteries. Then go back to your beer drinking.

DESSERT :

If you want to make a quick dessert and impress your guests here is my recipe for what I call a "Cheater Cheesecake".

1. Take one graham cracker crust pie mold that you can get at most grocery stores.
2. Add your favorite yogurt into it filling it to almost the top, you can add fruit or whatever to it if you want.
3. Put it in the freezer, and serve it for dessert, taking it out of the freezer just before dessert is served, calling it "Cheesecake Glacier'"

Your guests will love it, and ask for the recipe.

And, that is it for this installment of a bunch of, half truths, and things you could have lived your life without knowing. I make no claim whatsoever to any of these being the truth, or being the originator of any of the above vignettes, or any other thing that one might think of, save for the ones I personally experienced. I even make a disclaimer for the title "Fun Facts, and Useless Information", I do not know if anyone else has this same title, and if they do, sorry.

Have Fun, and oh, by the way, please take the time to submit something here for Jazz and all of us to read. I'll keep firing these installments off occasionally, but there is a great need for more variety on here.

  1. Wikipedia states that about half of the world's geysers are in Yellowstone National Park.

A lot must be in Iceland... geysa is Icelandic for 'to gush'.

    ..."the world's geysers"... i.e. planet Earth's.

There are other geysers. They are on various moons of the outer solar system (Mars may once have had geysers, I wish to add, but Mars' volcanoes are all apparently dead - knock wood - and so there are probably no geysers there now either. None observed anyway....) such as Saturn's moon Enceladus, and Neptune's moon Triton. (Jupiter's satellite Io has numerous active volcanoes, but those are not just mere geysers.)

  2. Since I can't get this to work any other way than to sign in as anonymus,I'm Kip replying to Upsky's comment. :

The geyser vignette was taken from one of the books on natural wonders. I did state that it was debatable on where all of the geysers were on "This World". Where-ever there is volcanic activity, there will be geysers. Wikipedia is a debatable source of information too.

  3. Much Ado About Geysa

PS to KIP: sign in as 'Name/URL', I always do. A bogus URL will work, and you can name yourself KIPPAGE just fine that way. It saves explanations, as the man said when he committed suicide instead of apologizing to his girlfriend.
